Tomo Kenko Project
about.
Mid-term In-house Project
I was commissioned to create an online supplement and vitamin brand that resonate with Japanese name and vibe. In 2019, while holding a position as Project Director at PT. Bumi Puspa Ceremai, I came up with the name Tomo Kenko. In Japanese, Tomo is short for tamagotchi which means friend. And Kenko in Japanese means health. Therefore, Tomo Kenko loosely means your friend for a healthy lifestyle. I was also the creator and designer of the original Tomo Kenko logo along with it's Hiragana name. I wrote the story of Tomo Kenko and designed the first lines of product packaging including Tomo Kenko's Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Zinc , Astaxanthin and Vitamin D3.
challenge.
The main challenge was to create designs that would be not only visually appealing but also capable of performing financially in the online market places. Each design needed to comply to BPOM (Indonesia's FDA) requirements, perform, accurately conveying the brand's mission without compromising design aesthetics. Creating an intuitive, easy-to-use design system for users to customize to their needs was a core focus throughout the project.
result.
Creation of the online Marketing team
With all my imperfections, as Project Director, I recruited five of the finest marketing talents for the initial team of this project. This team consists of Content Creator, e-Commerce Administrator, Graphic Designer. Marketing Executive, and Warehouse Administrator. With this skeleton crew we started Tomo Kenko and launched our online presence in October 2021 with a meager followers and revenue. Our team worked hard and brilliantly brought Tomo Kenko brand to the top right quick. In less than 3 years, Tomo Kenko had become one of the most popular brands in all e-commerce and major social media platform in Indonesia, with monthly gross revenue upwards IDR 4,5 billion and net profit north of IDR 1.5 billion per month. Today, Tomo Kenko team has grown to more than 15 talented people, and it keeps growing.
Design matters in your absence.
